The Turks and Caicos Islands is the perfect getaway for people looking to have fun combined with some of the best culinary offerings in the Caribbean. Turks and Caicos has some of the best restaurants that come highly recommended when you visit. Here are some of our favorite Turks and Caicos dining favorites:
Infiniti: This open-air restaurant has a very chic, happening vibe. Dress up in island chic as you enjoy the ambiance of oil lamps with an exquisite ocean view. If you’re risque enough, go for their raw bar which offers scallops, mahimahi, fresh tuna, and salmon. The portions are well-sized, delicious, and the views are phenomenal.
Coco Bistro: Set a block off the beach in a lush coconut forest, Coco Bistro is beautifully designed and has the best dining ambiance a restaurant has to offer. The food is well portioned and fantastic. Cuisine style is mediterranean with Caribbean flare. A must while visiting but make sure to book at least 3 weeks in advance! Our favorite dishes are the rack of lamb and the blackened mahi-mahi!
Grace’s Cottage at Point Grace Resort: This is truly one of our favorites. The restaurant is set in an older Caribbean colonial style. The dining setting is in a beautiful garden outside with many private pathways to your own discreet and private table. Staff are attentive and the food is fabulous. Favorite dishes include their steak and seabass
Magnolia: A hidden gem away from the the condos of Grace Bay. This restaurant is set on the ridge overlooking Turtle Cove Marina and the North shore of Providenciales. Spectacular views await, especially during sunset. Make sure to say hi to restaurant owners Tracy and Gianni. Favorite Dish: Seared Ahi Tuna
Seven at The Seven Stars Resort: This restaurant is really nice. It is located right in the heart of Grace Bay in the Seven Stars Resort. The restaurant is one of few on the island that offers interior air-conditioned dining as well as outside al-fresco. We especially love their bar. If you love good cocktails, this is your spot! Favorite dish: Risotto.
Baci Restaurant. Set in Turtle Cove Marina, this is the spot for your freshest fish dishes. The owner, John, has fresh-caught local fish most days for lunch and dinner. Make sure to check the Specials board for these offerings. Baci is open for lunch and dinner daily.
Honourable mentions include:
Solenna at Ocean Club West, Provence, Stelle at Wymara Resort, The Somerset’s Pavillion Restaurant, Sui Ren at the Shore Club Resort, and Mango Reef.
The Grace Bay Beach is the hub and home to some of the most exquisite art galleries as well as beautiful shops and duty-free locations in Turks and Caicos. Art galleries, jewellery stores, and locally made artisan goods can be found in plazas such as Saltmills, Regent Village, and Ports of Call. A lot of these locations are close, allowing you to view various galleries on foot.
The Turks and Caicos Islands are located at the southern tip of the Bahamas offering pristine sand beaches and a host of fun activities. When you are here, be sure to visit the following destinations to make your trip a truly unforgettable experience.
Grace Bay: It is one of the best Caribbean beaches stretching for over 11 miles. If you’re into marine activities such as snorkeling, this is the perfect spot for you as it offers you the best ‘off the beach snorkelling’ in the country at Smith’s Reef. There is also a great spot for snorkelling beginners at Coral Gardens Reef. Lucky snorkelers may even see JoJo the Dolphin is known to engage with divers. He frequents Grace Bay all the time.
Chalk Sound National Park: Get lost in the beautiful haze of turquoise waters as you explore the beautiful Chalk Sound Lagoon. It is about a 20- minute drive from Grace Bay where you can even take a pontoon cruise.
Taylor Bay: Situated on the ocean side of Chalk Sound, experience a secluded strip of beach where you can relax and be one with nature again. The water is shallow making it a perfect swimming spot for children.
Long Bay Beach: Home to The Caicos Banks on the Southside of the island. Here find beautiful turquoise waters as far as the eye can see. The Caicos Banks span the whole south side of the country for 50 miles to the South and 90 miles East and West. This makes Long Bay the best place to learn to kiteboard. There are a number of beautiful luxury homes on this beach and even a five-star hotel called the Shore Club.
Other Islands: One of our favorite things to do in TCI explores the vast history and culture of the country by visiting the other islands. Neighbouring islands, North and Middle Caicos can be visited by taking a 30-minute ferry boat ride. These islands are less developed but have miles and miles of secluded pristine beaches to explore. There are also old sisal plantations and some of the largest caves in the Caribbean, an awesome day
trip for the whole family.!
A ways further East and accessible by a short 20-minute plave ride is the capital of the country, Grand Turk. Here you will find what is Christopher Columbus’ said first landing point in the ‘new world’! For a small little island there is so much to do here; see old historic buildings, wonderful bars and restaurants, the island’s friendly wild donkeys, and the best scuba diving in the country. If you visit Grand Turk from January to April, you will also have a great chance to see the humpback whale migration North with their new calves.
The Turks and Caicos Islands are more than just sandy beaches and blue waters. There are a lot of regional attractions that can keep you busy during your trip. Check out some of the regional attractions you can visit:
Conch Bar Caves
Covering a distance of 1.5 miles, the Conch Bar Caves are one of the biggest caves in the Caribbean. You can take a 20-30 min guided tour to discover stalactites, stalagmites, lagoons, and bat colonies. The caves are located in Middle Caicos.
As a top honeymoon destination, Turks and Caicos offer a highly recommended catamaran cruise at sunset. Relax on the boat, dance, and relish in various refreshments for an unforgettable and enchanting evening with your loved one.
Casablanca & Ritz Carlton Casino
The Casablanca and Ritz Carlton’s new Casino is a hotspot for tourists where you can try your luck at over 85 slot machines, gambling tables, Russian Roulette, and Blackjack. You can also head down to the bar to enjoy a few drinks as you give lady luck a chance.
